Easy-Slat Gate-Maker Side Frame Kit - to suit Horizontal Aluminium Slats.

The gate frame frame section and cover is 4.2m Long. (Cut two gate side frames/ gate styles to suit a maximum height gate of 2.1m).
Note: We recommend a maximum gate width of 1.6m approx. 

• Suits our 65x16mm or 90x16mm Slats. Slats can be installed with no gaps or any desired gap between each slat.
• Slats are held in place with 4 screws per slat - 2 screws each side.

Gate Side Frame kit includes: (Must be cut to size).

1 x 4200mm Long Gate Side Frame Material - 50x50mm.

1 x 4200mm Snap-in Cover (To hide screws). 

2 x 50x50mm Aluminium Caps. (Powder coated and colour matched to the gate frame). 

CUTTING ALUMINIUM NOTE: A proper aluminium cutting blade must be used to cut this material like this blade sold by Bunnings and used with a standard compound mitre saw like this 185mm Ozito one. (this is the only possible way to get a clean straight cut).

Screws to screw off each slat. 

Slats to complete the gate.

Optional Precision Spacers: For perfectly consistent slat spacing, our black nylon spacers are available in 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, and 30mm sizes (sold separately) OR slats can be installed without permanent spacers. See photos... temporary spacers are used until all slats are screwed off. (See Instructions at bottom of page).

Please Note:

This kit does not include the aluminium slats, screws for attaching the slats, optional slat spacers, or gate hardware (hinges, latches, posts). These are available separately.

One 4.2m frame allows for a maximum gate height of 2.1m with a recommended maximum width of approximately 1.6m. For gate heights exceeding 2.1m, the purchase of two 4.2m frame kits will be necessary.

INSTRUCTIONS: How to make a strong slat gate up to 1600mm wide. (Use two together to make a double gate!)

The gate strength comes from attaching each slat with 4 x tech screws per slat. (2 screws on each side of the gate frame) AND by ensuring that the slats are cut straight and are installed hard against the gate frame. See slat gate installation photos that are included with the product photos.

Note: Temporary spacers are needed until all slats are screwed off. Spacers are then removed.

Basic Installation Steps for Aluminium Slat Gate Frame: (see product photos)

STEP 1 - Lay Gate frames on a blanket on a flat floor.
Attach the first slat level with the top of the gate frames with 1 screw only on each side.
Make sure the slat is hard against the gate frame.

STEP 2 - Install all slats and space them with temporary spacers. OR make your job easy and use our black nylon spacers that are available in 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, and 30mm sizes (sold in pack of 50)

STEP 3 - Attach the last slat with 1 screw only.
Then make sure the gate is square before screwing off all slats with 2 screws. Start with a middle slat first.
